Medina's Song

In 2011, the government of Sudan expelled all humanitarian groups from the country’s Nuba mountains. Since then, the Antonov aircraft has terrorized the Nuba people, dropping more than 4,080 bombs on hospitals, schools, marketplaces and churches. Today, the Nuba remain at war. More than 1 million live in famine conditions, while enduring a government-imposed humanitarian blockade intended to drive them out of the region. Despite the persistent threat of bombings, a young Sudanese educator uses her classroom to spark resilience and pride amongst her people, beginning with the youngest – "the future of our country."
